When whatsApp was bought by Facebook in 2014, users fears the insecurity in it, because of this WhatsApp introduces end-to-end encryption that tackle the issue. But today Facebook announced a major change with the term of allowing all whatsApp users to automatically share data with its parent company Facebook.
Though the company says the reason for sharing whatsApp data to Facebook withing the two most powerful messaging app is to test out new features in the next couple of months, for example:
"ways for you to communicate with businesses that matter to you" and "hearing from your bank about a potentially fraudulent transaction, or getting notified by an airline about a delayed flight."
The data sharing feature will not include your encrypted content messages, which means your messages stay private and no one else can see it but if the option is switched on your data such as your phone number, profile name and photo, online status and status message, last seen status, and receipts. That means read receipts and sent receipts, will be shared.
How to Opt out of WhatsApp data sharing
Whether you like this feature or not there is an option for you to opt out of the whatsapp to Facebook data sharing service if you don't want any of your data to be shared.
