WhatsApp Users Are Making 100 Million Calls Everyday

03:15 1
WhatsApp users are making 100 million calls everyday, the company has announced. Most users are now getting familiar and feel safe using the whatsApp calling feature which was added months ago, Maybe due to the End-to end encryption feature which now make whatsapp users feel safe and secured.

Whatsapp 100 million calls a day

Just for those who are new to this, if any, the whatsapp calling feature allows you to make calls to another whatsapp users without paying a dime to your network provider instead it uses your data or wi-fi to make the call. And of course you  must have a very good Internet network to do that.

Most folks are now ditching their phone dedicated voice calling feature by using apps like Whatsapp and Skype for numerous reasons. but some of the reasons revolved around end-to-end encryption, cheaper rate, superb call quality, easy group calling, etc.

In a blog post this week, Whatsapp announced that there are 100 million voice calls which take place on whatsapp everyday, which amount to 1,100 calls every second, that's huge right?

Side note, most Africa countries are not really using the whatsapp calling features due to the poor internet network. In Nigeria for example, most telecommunication companies do have a snail like internet speed which are only good for opening webpages not to talk of using an app for calling over the network. So only a tiny fraction of the 100 million whatsapp call made everyday belong to Africa.

Are you using the Whatsapp calling feature? Tell us your experience.

Facebook Threatens To Delete Your Synced Photos If You Refuse To Download Its New Photo App

12:42 0
Facebook seems to discover different means to get people to download it own apps, Last week Facebook forced its users to download Facebook Messenger if they most chat. Now the company is convincing it users to download "Moments- Facebook new photo sharing apps.

facebook moments

The noticed has to do with photo sharing syncing features that was recently removed from Facebook main mobile app. In 2012, the core Facebook app was automatically able to upload photo from phone's local camera roll to a private album on Facebook. Though they were kept there for storage which will make it easier to share publicly on Facebook.

Now this synchronizing tools has been moved from core Facebook app into a photo sharing app called "Moments".

Facebook has threaten to delete thousands of photo if users refuse to download the moments app and also give an option for all Facebook user to download a zip format of all their photos if they don't want to move over to Moments app before July 7th this year.

I think this move is rather not the kindest of tactics to delete photos when Facebook definitely has the capability and the resources to store them.

Man Stole 19 Iphones From Apple Store By Dressing Like An Employee

03:13 0
The same incident happened some weeks back when a woman disguise as an Apple worker and stole eight phone from the store on Feb 16. Last week, this same technique was used but this time it was neatly done by two men.

Apple store stolen 19 iphones

Last week, the police in New Yoke reported that two thieves managed to steal 19 Iphones from Apple Store simply by dressing like employees. According to DNAinfo, the thief dressed exactly like Apple's own workers walked into the electronic repair room of SOHO store, grabbed 19 iphones worth $16,130 and gave it to an accomplice who hide them under his shirt. They both walked out of the store.

Mainly looking at the scenario, The thieves obviously has an insider who gave them such info as to where the spared iphones are located or they probably have been studying the in and out of the store for quite some time because it takes someone to know the layer of a store before you can confidently walked to specific place where the spare iphones are kept right ?

A source from the store told the post that "nobody will question" an unfamiliar face as long as they are wearing a familiar shirt.

So what your opinion on this. Do you think it's an inside job?

Facebook Wants To Start Encrypting its Messenger App Chats

04:45 0
In April this year, WhatsApp- Facebook owned messaging app introduced an end-to-end encryption which make you secure during conversions without any third-party interfering or viewing your private chat either by Facebook or any government.

According to source Facebook is planning to roll out end-to-end encryption on its messenger app -"Facebook Messenger" later this year but this time it will be an opt-in features, what this means is that you will have to decide to use the feature or not depending on your choice.

facebook messenger app encryption

Facebook Messenger users will be presented with the option to either end-to-end encrypt their messages or get a smarter messaging chat. Though Engineers at both Google and Facebook predict that messenger users will rather prefer to opt-in to a smarter chat option than a private one. But not every one will agree though. Do you agree to that?
"I just object to the opt-in default for what could be millions of users as they discuss politics, their love life, health concerns, and other topics meant to be private," Open Crypto Audit Project co-director and researcher Kenneth White said
Having said that, When an End-to-end is turned on, only people on either side of the of the conversations that can decrypt messages, which means neither authorities or Facebook will be able to decipher them.

So an end-to-end encrypted Facebook messenger or a smarter chat messenger which one will you opt-in for?

Facebook Is Forcing Android Users To Download Messenger App For Conversations

11:16 0
It has been two years now since Facebook has decided to remove the chat feature from it smartphone app, instead of letting users to download a single app for all of their facebooking tasks, now the company is forcing users to use their stand alone messaging app called "Facebook messenger".

Despite this, user has been able to use the Facebook mobile site page to chat but Facebook has also tips that will be coming to an end soon.

facebook, facebook messenger forced

Lot of Facebook user complained of the app draining battery so fast, therefore making them  to uninstall the app and accessing Facebook mobile site to chat and update status. But Facebook is making it even more harder to for users to chat on mobile site, making  sure the Facebook app will be your only option.

Most android users are already getting notifications saying "Soon you'll only be able to view your messages from Messenger." and some android user has not completely be able to use the chat function to send messages. When they try to open a conversation, they are being directed to the Google PlayStore to download Facebook Messenger.

Currently, IOS user seems to be a bit lucky for now, they were still able to send messages via the Facebook mobile site but its only a matter of time, they too will be given the same treatment.

The only work around right now is for you to download a Third-party app to handle your chat or you browse the desktop version on your phone.
